  • Over the past few years that I have known matt I have seen him grow an idea into a fully operational business model that now has its own creative training centre and 4 members of staff, including myself. I was one of the young people that engaged with unity when it first started, I was 18 at the time and had many complex issues and problems surrounding my life. Unity not only got me to start thinking positively again but built my confidence, got me back into employment and then 3 months ago gave me the opportunity to work as part of the team. The style of engagement that the organization that matt started is modern and fresh and delivers quality creative based training and activities that have real positive outcomes together with educational values. Unity has won large-scale contracts and tenders with government agencies such as 'Connexions', local authority departments such as the youth service and the local primary care trust. Recommendations come after recommendations from fund managers as unity is asked to plan and deliver bespoke solutions to social problems in its unique style. For this reason I believe matt stands out from other people across the country as he has achieved so much in such little time and is so dedicated to growing the model and empowering young people to play a part in its future. He has contributed greatly to local social change with unity getting 55 young people back into mainstream work or education in the past 12 months alone aswell as supporting a far bigger number in raising skill levels and interpersonal skills. Aside from unity matt is also a trustee of a north staffs homeless and domestic violence charity called arch, which is totally voluntary, and also the chairman of the local love music hate racism group in Stoke-On-Trent.
