  • Jason Pegler should win the award for Social Entrepreneur because it is rare that someone has both the natural aptitude and the dedicated drive to win the Young Social Entrepreneur (2005) and then still experience most of his social enterprise’s growth. Jason has proven that he can compete, not only with the youngsters, and that he is the best person to use an award like this to drive the success of his social enterprise onto even greater things… and for the benefit of more and more people.

When Jason won the Young Social Entrepreneur award in 2005, ChipmunkaPublishing was not able, financially, to change every e-book into a paperback. Big things have changed since then.

Jason adopted a new business model, using print on demand systems. Jason has sought out and negotiated printing and distribution channels and has ruthlessly exploited new web-based medias to promote us. We can now afford to make every e-book a paperback.

These changes simultaneously allow us a lot of opportunities, creatively solving many problems and allowing us to help more people. We can afford to publish more books, which means more people can read them and be helped and inspired to write. However, we also have more books for sale, at e-book price and paperback, which means we have a larger market appeal and share, have more books to sell, do sell more and can afford to help more people….

We are really using business models to create a circle of beneficial social change, where profit is made and re-invested into further social change. Hence our growth, and our ability to offer more employment and volunteering opportunities to more people. Because of our printing model, our books will never be “out of print” but always available, making our contribution towards informing and empowering others lasting.

  • My book beyond the facade was published by Chipmunka publishing and I can not thank them enough for making this possible, they have given me a voice but more importantly the vulnerable elderly victims of abuse have been heard thanks to them, this has given me the chance to raise awareness on abuse in care homes and this all due to this company. Knowledge is power and this book will save lives and that is not a claim most achievment many can take credit for, in a publishing world where the likes of charie blair or big brother contestents get book deals I thank god for chipmunka,
