• In North Staffordshire, where there is already a strong and well established daily newspaper, development of something so different was never going to be easy and yet, from nothing readership after 9 months exceeds 9,000 and is growing rapidly. Clare's tireless devotion to making the connections necessary to create a succesful social enterprise has inspired many, and support has come from all corners of the professional and business world. There are few people from mainstream organisations, local institutions and groups who now have not heard, and read Local Edition. The impact on the local communities has created a sense of cohesion, it is written and produced by local communities around issues of local importance. Many speak about Local Edition as a 'model of excellence'. Major groups now access the publication and seek to advertise within it through sponsorship of the publication.

  Social Media CIC, the company Clare set up to produce Local Edition, also extends its reach to Global news and connections. Having recently been awarded a grant through the Illuminate programme, Clare is also helping to promote social enterprise in the North Staffordshire area. Winning this award would help Clare to further the awareness of Social Media CIC,and Local Edition; its profile and sponsorship and develop the extraordinary community benefits it creates.
