Farah Damji deserves to win the award because she represents the concept that change is possible and transformation starts from within but then spreads outward. Through her own diverse talents she has created something beautiful, worthwhile and enduring and is passing on the potential for self realisation through arts and creativity to other people who are incarcerated presently. Farah goes about her life "spreading light" as opposed to "haemmoraging chaos" now, as she likes to say.
Nominated by Farah Damji, 09 May 2008
Farah is an inspiration to creativity across many media. From writing to fashion to painting, this multi-talented woman does it all and does it with panache. Someone like Ms. Damji does not come around often, the perfect balance of business acumen, good taste and talent, and a huge heart and giving soul. Anytime I wear my Moksa bag, I get compliment and offers to buy it off my person! Something so unique must be professionally recognized.

Farah Damji is lighthearted about her achievements but they are serious. I have just seen the first batch of clothes her company has given to www.finecellwork.co.uk for inmates to stitch. Her enthusiasm and creativity are infectious, after a couple of "wrong starts" Farah Damji has made a fresh start and is actively touching people's lives to make them feel empowered. I have worked in prison reform for ten years and I see many good ideas come and go but Farah is onto a winner here.

Moksa designs are beautiful, saleable and wearable. That they are ethically produced and support the future prospects of people inside gives Moksa an edge over rival brands. It gives us a vision to buy into, not just Swarovski but a sense of social responsibility.
Brava Moksa!

Farah Damji has been arrested once again (on Monday 27 October 2008) and has been charged as 3 years before with multiple counts of fraud, deception, forgery, theft and purgery. Farah’s newfound freedom after her prison sentence has been very short lived as she clearly could not handle the responsibilities that come with the freedom you and I share and cherish. The damage is again hundreds of thousands of Pounds, both with regular people, with companies and with the Council and the victims are basically everybody and anybody Farah has encountered in her year out of prison.
Farah's MySpace page visitors, friends and blog subscribers you have all been deceived and lied to by her and sadly it is clear that Farah has never changed and has never even tried to change from the con woman she has always been. Ironically, Farah will now be able to work on actual ethical clothes through the Fine Cell Work program.
For more information and to report having been ripped off, conned, deceived by and / or and stolen from by Farah Damji, Moksa, Moksa Surya or Spirit of Custom yourself, visit: http://tinyurl.com/farahdamji
And believe you me, if you think Farah has been telling you the truth, she has clearly not managed to get her hands on your personal identity, bank account details or credit card number yet. Consider yourself conned.

FARAH DAMJI is a deceitful fantasist.
She is a liar, a thief and an awful mother.
She abandoned her two children (being raised by her parents), she is a calculating and dishonest operator who deserves to be shot.
MOKSA her new venture will fail, just like all her previous ventures. No doubt though her rich daddy will bail her out (again).
I also hear recently Farah is now a member of the religious group, Kabbalah. My advice to all those who meet her there:
Beware!!

Damji is an attention seeking liar, fraudster and common thief. She is also highly intelligent but with a completely warped mind.
Here is just one example why you cannot believe Farah Damji...
According to Damji, she was arrested for the suspected murder of a New York Mafia acqaintance (Larry Gertz) just after she turned 25. That would have been in autumn 1991.
She said that the murder was featured strongly in the New York newspapers because the Police were feeding information to the press. But there is no mention of any Larry Gertz in any New York Times news story since 1948!
Damji also writes...
"...The murder took place in broad daylight, in mid-town Manhattan. The police had found a carving knife at the scene but it had been wiped clean. There were no traces of DNA or fingerprints. This was a professional, ordered, contract hit. Rudolph Giuliani had recently taken the helm at the Mayors office. New York had dumped Ed Koch, the old, flamboyant homosexual. Ruddy was the new chairman of the city, with about as much charm as a cold pizza..."
The thing is, Rudolph Giuliani was not elected mayor of New York until 1st January, 1994 - so could not have been Mayor at the time of the murder if Damji says she had just turned 25!
Ed Koch was not Mayor either - he left office on 31 December, 1989!
If her supposed arrest for murder took place when Damji was 25 then the Mayor of New York at the time was David Dinkins; he was the first African American to hold the office of Mayor of New York (1 January 1990 - 31 December 1993). Given that Damji was born in Africa, you think she would remember that rather large detail!
