Farah Damji

1 nomination from readers

  • Farah Damji deserves to win the award because she represents the concept that change is possible and transformation starts from within but then spreads outward. Through her own diverse talents she has created something beautiful, worthwhile and enduring and is passing on the potential for self realisation through arts and creativity to other people who are incarcerated presently. Farah goes about her life "spreading light" as opposed to "haemmoraging chaos" now, as she likes to say.

  • Farah is an inspiration to creativity across many media. From writing to fashion to painting, this multi-talented woman does it all and does it with panache. Someone like Ms. Damji does not come around often, the perfect balance of business acumen, good taste and talent, and a huge heart and giving soul. Anytime I wear my Moksa bag, I get compliment and offers to buy it off my person! Something so unique must be professionally recognized.

  • Farah Damji is lighthearted about her achievements but they are serious. I have just seen the first batch of clothes her company has given to www.finecellwork.co.uk for inmates to stitch. Her enthusiasm and creativity are infectious, after a couple of "wrong starts" Farah Damji has made a fresh start and is actively touching people's lives to make them feel empowered. I have worked in prison reform for ten years and I see many good ideas come and go but Farah is onto a winner here.

  • Moksa designs are beautiful, saleable and wearable. That they are ethically produced and support the future prospects of people inside gives Moksa an edge over rival brands. It gives us a vision to buy into, not just Swarovski but a sense of social responsibility.

    Brava Moksa!
