  • LIVE should win because LIVE is a ‘youth engagement’ program that really engages and doesn’t let go.

It works because it offers all young people respect and opportunity, in a unique environment where young people are surrounded and supported by professionals.

The result is LIVE Magazine, by young people for young people, tackling the issues of the day in a uniquely honest voice.

LIVE acts as a landing pad to many young people, coming out of the justice system or their own challenging issues. LIVE acts as a launching pad to many young people, propelling them into education or employment.

Successful at bridging public/private sector divides, LIVE is championed by local, central and European governments, LIVE also works with businesses from the BBC to 02 to Penguin, bringing brand credibility and recognition essential in engaging with disaffected young people.

As well a engaging young people, LIVE is also educating, thousands are reached through the distribution of LIVE Magazine, on topics often too sensitive to address in typical learning environments, but LIVE is also educating in a hands on sense through regular accredited workshops at it’s offices, delivering A level equivalent qualifications.

LIVE has a very impressive alumni and remains supportive and in touch with many young people that are now doing A levels or degree’s, from Law to Healthcare or have gone on to become successful designers, PR’s, store managers and even TV presenters.

LIVE is now building a series of apprenticeship schemes for it’s young graduates and is using it’s successful contacts and client relationships to develop structured, managed accredited placements at some of the biggest companies in the UK as pilot shchemes, so far in 2008 (Jan to May) LIVE has succeeded in placing 9 young people (6 of whom were NEET) into in full time work.

  • LIVE's a great magazine with a strong voice that allows young people in south London fast-track access to the media and gives them an opportunity to redress the (mainly) negative representation of young people elsewhere in the mainstream media.

  • LIVE is an inspirational project that delivers, delivers and delivers time and time again. Without Live the lives of so many young people in South London would not have such promising prospects.

  • I was introduced to LIVE by a friend, the first day i came into LIVE we went off and did various things for the magazine, i was able to use my B grade GCSE in photography for the magazine. I was very happy with this because i had not yet had the chance to do so. The atmosphere in the LIVE room is one that i enjoy a lot, at times we have a lot of fun with various things that we do for the magazine, on the other hand i love the professional side of it that we our taught and showed from the get go. After one day at LIVE I was offered a internship in the Livity office upstairs. So from LIVE not only have i had a chance to use my photography skills that i hadn't had a chance to use yet and a insight to the professional side of the working environment, i got a chance to work in a office that runs a very successful youth marketing company. Thanks to LIVE i have experience of working in an office. This will not only help me while I'm here but also in the future for whatever i decide to do. Not only does LIVE help the youths that help put together the magazine it helps the youths reached by distribution. All in all i think LIVE should win because of the sheer dedication and motivation they show and put in to the youths and people like me.

  • LIVE Magazine and the other creative youth media projects that non-profit social enterprise LIVE Futures Ltd runs, is a shining example of what can be achieved when smart professionals turn their brains and energies to making the world a better place instead of simply making piles of cash.

Each year LIVE gives hundreds of young people from a range of backgrounds and abilities, the skills and resources to express their views, explore their creativity, broaden their horizons, gain confidence and develop new life and work skills whilst creating their own media under the guidance of experienced paid and volunteer media professional mentors.

In turn these messages inspire, entertain and educate up to 250,000 more 12-21 year olds across London and beyond each year. And if LIVE was to win this award who knows how many more young people's lives might be improved.

  • I've met so many young people, from different background, who've reaped the benefits of LIVE Magazine. Not only are they able to gain key skills they can take into the work place but a helping hand to get onto that very career ladder. In turn, these young people prove inspirational to other youngsters and if one teen can turn it around, it lets others no the same can happen for them. The growing work with the YOT has also seen results and an increased diversity in the team. Such a form of rehabilitation is necessary with more and more youths been locked up. What has also surprised me with LIVE is how much the adults too benefit from giving up time to mentor. Inspire to be inspired.
